AMMANN FOAM®

New technologies allow asphalt production at reduced temperatures. Energy consumption per ton of asphalt and on-site emissions are significantly reduced. While conventional asphalt is produced at around 170°C, current low-temperature processes allow temperatures of approximately 100°C. Ammann offers several technologies for this purpose. Depending on the application, foamed bitumen, waxes and other additives, specialty bitumen, or alternative mixing cycles may be appropriate.

Ammann Foam technology creates foamed bitumen by injecting cold water into hot bitumen under pressure, allowing asphalt to be produced at lower temperatures without chemical additives.

AMMANN FOAM features

  • Dryer energy savings

  • Reduced CO2 emissions

  • Less odor emissions

  • Less on-site emissions

  • Better working conditions

  • Reduced bitumen aging

  • Higher plant drying efficiency

  • Higher plant recycling efficiencyLonger transport life

  • Higher compaction efficiency

Heating the raw aggregate to approximately 115°C ensures a perfect blend of bitumen and aggregates, resulting in high-quality asphalt.

The foam generator can be integrated into both continuous and batch plants and retrofitted into existing plants with minimal effort, ensuring operational flexibility.

The warm asphalt mix reduces energy consumption and emissions, making the production process more cost-effective and environmentally friendly. Compacting the asphalt at lower temperatures further enhances these benefits.
