Ammann’s efforts begin with the burner and the efficient technologies incorporated that not only meet the world’s strictest emissions standards, but exceed them.

These efforts go beyond fuel combustion. All stages of the asphalt mixing process are analyzed to identify possibilities for eliminating dust, odors, and noise.

Effective baghouse filter systems further reduce exhaust dust to less than 10 mg/m³, which is an exemplary benchmark.
Bitumen fumes are the primary source of odor. Odor reduction points are located in the bitumen tanks, at the loading and unloading levels, and in the stack.
Noise reduction begins with equipping the burners with quiet, variable-speed motors and stack silencers, which control exhaust noise. Sound suppression options even include plant cladding.

VOC reduction device (VRD)

The VOC Reduction Device (VRD) is a standalone solution that can be added to any asphalt plant to filter fumes. The VRD reduces VOCs by up to 70%, resulting in a significant reduction in emissions without the need for continuous operation. The system features self-cleaning technology, so filter replacement is not required. This ensures optimal plant uptime and reduced maintenance costs.

BST (Blue smoke treatment)

The Blue Smoke Treatment (BST) system captures emissions at the end of the asphalt production process, particularly during loading. The BST captures, redirects, and reuses smoke in the combustion chamber to reduce both visible emissions and costs. The system features a multi-stage filtration process that removes oil particles and recycles the condensed oil. This ensures high efficiency and minimal environmental impact.

Advanced filter system

Ammann’s chamber-type bag filter reduces exhaust particulate matter well below the 10 mg/Nm³ PM benchmark. This high-efficiency filter features patented rotor-passing mechanisms, which gently clean the filter bags and reduce wear compared to pulsejet systems. The system offers a filtration efficiency of 99.9%, ensuring compliance with the strictest emissions regulations. Minimizing moving parts reduces maintenance and improves reliability.
